‘Baltic UXO’ (dir. Alexander Belinski, Agnė Dovydaitytė)
1,6 million tons of unexploded military munition (UXO) were dumped into the Baltic and Northern Seas after the Second World War. A brooding and meditative cinematic journey observes the effects this has on nature and people around the Baltic. Work in progress presentation will be held in English.
Directors’ bios:
Cinematographer and director Alexander Belinski is a Ukrainian-born British citizen currently living and working in Lithuania. Together with the co-director Agne Dovydaityte (Lithuania) they have graduated from the BA Journalism course in London and moved to Lithuania in 2018 to finish their debut documentary The Sun Sets in the East, which premiered in Ji.Hlava.
Baltic UXO is their second film. It was presented in a number of workshops and pitches, including Ex. Oriente, Karlovy Vary Works in Progress, Berlinale Talents Doc Station, won the main prize in Docu Talents from the East, and more.
